Never Let Us Die
Blood soaking soil, Earths final embrace
Deep red is blinding me, just to picture your face
Your porcelain complexion, your endless love
Will keep me warm like in the heavens above
I’m scared my love, as I lay here alone
The unfamiliar voices, they turn me to stone
I know my time here is moments away
From growing dim, so let me just say
Your letter of news that you were with child
Kept me alive on this dismal old isle
It gave me hope that one day I would see
Both your smiling faces, together we would be
Behind enemy lines, just waiting for my troop
The medic to find me and bring me to you
The snow falling thick from the grayest of sky
Reminding I’m not with you on Christmas day
If this letter finds you then this is not goodbye
I will be with you always, every minute, nearby
The tears drench the page, the blood smears my words
My hands are now shaking like fluttering birds
This war is constantly consuming, everything and everyone
No feelings for the love lost, No feelings for the unborn
I love you with all my heart, just to caress you once again
To feel your loving warmth, I pray I one day attain
For what I did for my man, country and all that I gave
Please don’t forget me, alone in an unmarked grave
Oh God please let her read this, let her know of my love
Let her know that it wont die, even though my body does
On snow I now lay, seeing memories of the past
The fear has now left me with this breath being my last
Goodbye
