Poem -

A New Hope

Sitting here bleeding from my wrists,

taking everything in as it all darkens.

Everything finally goes black,

only to become bright again.

I look around and see the faces of nurses,

to hear the beep of machines as they monitor my heart beat.

Each person with a look on their face I will never forget,

some with tears others trying to look happy.

Why was I saved?

I wake up fully and look around for the first time,

everyone is here.

My family and friends are standing around,

each one smiling because I am awake.

I look down and see the stitches on my wrists,

I count them, 39 in total.

12 people in the room,

51 reasons why I am alive.

I smile because I realize I am still here.

I'm still here for a reason that I'll figure out later.

Maybe to tell others that it's worth it.

Pain is only temporary,

but yet giving up is eternal.
