New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve

Look friend,

We have survived another false apocalypse,

Another aging fear for the loss of humanity,

Another glimpse into our minimal existence

That is a rotten promise since birth,

Like the I-love-you, I-love-you-too prayer of programed lovers.

Look friend,

Maybe it has been worth it:

The crying in fetal positions at night,

The changing tides for bad and then worse,

The sun setting in Spain and in France,

But never at home where our intentions rest asleep

Waiting for a day to burn out

Like a rocket to the other side of Mars,

The side we have yet to discover.

Look friend,

As the moon angers and rejoices,

Another side of myself is left unknown to me

Until I swim across other people’s lives

To find the same plot and climax

With similar characters

It must be true when people say,

the villain leaves the scene,

         Every once in a while.
