THAT NIGHT I LOST MY LIFE
It came to fluision, that night in December
that destiny indeed made no mistakes
the snow storm was so deep, so cold
but the creek, to my surprise didn't freeze over
As careful as I was, apparently I drove
my car across that unstable ice
the ice began to crack, before I could even gasp
the car quickly started sinking fast
It was at that moment, my life seemed to flash
right before my very tightly clenched eyes
the cold water and cold air, placed my body in shock
no way was I going to escape that one alive
I began to lose consciousness, fading in a bad way
I prayed to the heaven's above to spare me once more
I used what energy I had left to kick and punch the glass
yet my oxygen level had apparently been all consumed
Once my eyes closed, my ears closed, no sound or sight
just a very percular and intense bright light
then that light started to flicker, I was a gonner I figured
cause my chest no longer thumped, blood no longer pumped
I remember floating carelessly, arms dangling so were my feet
the cold air, somehow I still felt very brutally
all the while I saw images, no sound, more like premonitions
of an Angellic figure taking me by the hand
As hard as it was to tell her no, and pull away from this figure
part of me wanted to go, it began to get peaceful
I began to feel a calm upon me, one that I've never known
serene, unexplicably restful
just when I conceded and threw in the towel
a bolt of electricity ran through my soul
the blinding bright light returned to my vision
and immediately I was revisited by the extreme cold
I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to visualize it all
what happened to the calm I felt, just a few minutes ago
the pain was intense, that's when it set in, that I was breathing again
somehow I had life, restored to my body, trying to see what happened
It was then that I heard the distinctive sirens, somehow I may be saved
but how did I get from the bottom of the creek to the back of the ambulance
I looked to my left and there you were, crying holding my hand
telling me that it would be ok, trying to help me understand
That's when the EMT looked at me and said, You've got a wonderful woman
by the time we got to the scene, she had already pulled you up from under
then the EMT said the craziest thing, when he noticed your shoes were dry
he told me from a distance he saw you carrying me across the ice
But as he got closer, he started to notice that the creek was no longer frozen
he looked me in the face, and said, "That lady was walking on top of the water"
My Angel, I've referred to you for as long as I can remember
yet on this night, you truly revealed your wings
you looked at that man and responded by saying why do you say silly things?
You claim that you never walked on water then sternly looked into his eyes
with a calm sweet voice, you said to him
"Sweetie, I have wings, I can Fly"
