Night of the Nothing

Night of the Nothing

One cloudless night

twas nary a star in the sky

Even the full moon
scheduled to appear
had disappeared mysteriously

No one could figure why

the celestial lights had taken
it's leave of our view

Apocalyptic theologians
and perplexed scientists
fiercely debated
the meaning
of this impossibility

Was it an anomaly of astronomy

or maybe

God simply forgot to pay
the electric bill?
