Poem -

Night Watcher

Cold air and shimmers of dispersing moonlight, the night awakens dark yet bright.

Streets, the forest and shelters of stone, walking the paths of pale yellow bone.

Children asleep hidden away, night life or life's plight, who’s to say.

Traipsing the alleys, hang-outs and park, the feeling of peace and calmness amid dark.

A lonesome whistle riding the breeze, an atmosphere that haunts with a fear that can freeze.

Mostly we ignore, rarely take heed of the darkness, it’s eternal presence and our inability to harness.

The power of night and looming shadows of black, it is time for the imagination to emerge and attack.

We never consider existing at night, only of resting and closing eyes tight.

Open your perception to receive a state, see the visions of a daytime fate.

Dawn we are dormant though ready to rise, by day become hungry to digest our surmise.

Oncoming depth of untold mystery, mankind is ignorant while we pass our history.

Dwell among both worlds, do not ignore, shade of colour in a reversed form.

See at will the shapes that leap, shadows that dance and time that reaps.
