Nine Winds

Nine Winds

The wind is a circle, they say, and yet

Nine winds of March have trapped my heart

In a basement full of doubt,

And left me heartless.

Three bears face off in my dreams,

One to guide me, but the other two

Are the old man's bears, up in that tree,

There to scare me into never

Coming out that I'm a girl.

Who will win?

I know.

Heaven is a place in the soul.

Ida says it's like nothing

You've ever seen before.

To me it's a place I left

Somewhere in the first grade,

A place of utter joy.

Winter is ending in my heart,

And the rays of silence

Are making it through

Those bitter winds.

Soon I will have a heart again.

Won't that be nice.
