Misty Heart

Misty Heart

The window to my heart is lost

Behind a veil of misty fog,

And in my sleep I turn and toss,

Getting bound up in a bog.

Of tragic dismal dreams of old

That diatract me from dreams of better fair,

And enmesh me in a lion's lair,

Or make me to fight dullards bold.

I used to dream of fair bright lands

With eagles white as snow,

And maidens fair with crimson bands

Amidst their hair so gold.

But now my dreams are dark with him,

The black devil Lucifer,

And if I should ever serve his whim

My life would be forever cold.

For who so ever

Rides with him will never have their will,

I'd rather have a misty heart

Than sign his heartless deal.
