"No light reaches its depth" By Ben Goode 2012 (c)

Sometimes I hesitate in publishing older work. Simply because I am highly critical of it.
But there is so, so much of it which I scrap or disregard. But I might just publish it anyway with slight improvements.
Just so anyone who reads it, can see how over time, it's improved. Thank you so much to those of you following my work,
and thank you for your kind comments. It certainly encourages me to write more. :)
Perhaps overbearing. Am I too deep?
Like a bottomless river.Β
With swirling undercurrents of power.
Swept away emotionally in a flash flood.Β
Damned by a wall of circumstantial crap.
Overflowing flooding emotions.
Having solid ground engulfed.Β
And muddy banks with no bridge,
Struggling against the deadly rip.
Will my feet ever find a safe anchor?
The stepping stones I knew?Β
Are they now too sunken, to serve their purpose?
A full moon throws a golden path over the waters.
Promising another way?
But no light reaches its depth.Β
To be solid, and true.
And like a rainbow,Β
Can that path can ever really be found?
