NO MATTER WHAT

Never before have I heard those words 
I was so shocked and surprised 

Tears flood my eyes 
But a man is not supposed to cry 
So I smiled, 
Suppressing those volcanic emotions
Inside

As she held my hands
Gentle as a baby's breath 
With love stained eyes 
She whispered ever so softly 

No matter what..
I will always love you
And there is nothing that anyone can do
To darken that burning light 
That shines in my heart for you

And then she kissed me
Causing my sleep to surrender 
To consciousness.
