No Time On The Sundial

No Time On The Sundial

We made love but the time stayed the same,
so we did it again but no change since you came,
it was wonderful that time could go on forever,
when there was nothing stopping you being together.

What time would you wish for - evening light,
serenity, when spirits had risen to a new height,
or always in the afternoon when time stood still,
the sun never set with same shadows on your window sill. 

Perhaps morning when dew didn't drop on the grass,
it just proved that some things never come to pass,
we smiled as one, frozen in time, ready for the photograph,
sunshine hung in the air like a suspended laugh.

If there was no sun, then no shadow, no more time,
only transient love passing thro' like yours and mine.
