Nobel Peace Award 1993

Nobel Peace Award 1993

Nelson Mandela

From some distance and nearby
resembling Obama's attitude of speech
looking on slightly over the audience
unto an undefined point but ahead

Of time and civilization
glittering black tells in gray
the history of his era--
‘The struggle is my life’

The head is made of modest black
that changes into moss green
when smoothness of geometry
is giving in to human surface

Though this time it are not algae
like on Stonehenge stones
but sfumato of sculpture
displaying texture of matter

After absorbing earthly elements
such as fire water earth air
finishing the facial features
and looks beyond artistic design

Intangible ideals become materialized
like nature adds humane face
to unpredictable future
of man and kind.

Truly an icon and example of a person connected to True Self.   To spend 27 years in prison for speaking out against apartheid.....and then being elected President of South Africa -  and to set up a truth commission with Bishop Tutu where those who committed crimes, including murder,  testifed to crimes to bring healing  - and not getting jail time.  AMAZING STUFF.

Mandela,  Jesus,  MLK, Ghandi  -  amazing human beings......

Lovely poem.  Thanks for sharing.   JCG

Thanks for comment.
The struggle and road to freedom are still very long.
Question: Has MLKs dream come true some 50 years after the famous speech?
