"Not ever you" By Ben Goode (c)

"Not ever you" By Ben Goode (c)

A dark room. Blind. Perhaps ignorance,

But no torch can pierce this darkness.

It has blanketed me. I see nothing.

Not even myself. But have I ever?

I wonder if anyone else sees me?

Caught in their own darkness, perhaps not.

Perhaps they do.

Doubts have crept in all around me,

They make no noises,

But I know they are there.

Fear is my only company,

But it only whispers in my mind.

I call your name, but are you there?

Perhaps you never were,

And it was just a shadow.

Not ever you.
