This is not me

You only see what I want you to see
This is not me
You only know what I want you to know
No one knows the real me
Kindred spirits, they understand
But I am alone
No one to hold my hand
To walk a mile in my shoes
May open your eyes
To the life of a smiler
One who uses that disguise
The pain and the sadness
Felt solely within
Hidden at times
By a smile and grin
Sure there is happiness
Fun it ensues
But always repaid by time feeling blue
My own little bubble
Known only to me
Remember..... what you see
Is not me

Behind my battlements, I wage a war, a war to free myself, from the shackles I have created. I do not smile because...I am afraid to let anyone see...that I can feel happiness. I rather let them see a dour persona,  that keeps them away, this way I cannot get hurt...problem is...it is lonely.
