Not Measuring Up

Not Measuring Up

I never measured
up
to what I should
have
been

I never measured
up
to the values
and ethics
that my parents
in stilled
in me

I never measured
up
to the creed
that I swore
I would
up hold

I never measured
up
to being the
father
that my
children
deserved
to have

I never measured
up
of having that
strong shoulder
to lean
on for
my beautiful
wife

And

Though I am pretty certain
that those who adore
me
would disagree

in my soul,
my spirit
and being

I never measured up.....
