Poem -

Not Never

you ask for my heart

on a silver platter

and i hand it over

zealously-

garnish and all.Ā

and then you ask for my brain

and my lungs

and my dreams

and desires

and i accept-

scraping away until there is only bone-

and then you want that too.Ā

soonĀ

i have nothing left to give

and you get mad

and ask why that is so

and i say

'because i couldn't say no'.

and you call me selfish

for having been used upĀ

and claim the world has no time

for someone who's all gone
