Not Today

I shall comb the tangles from my hair
But not today
I shall wash the smell of death away
But not today
For today I sit in disbelief
I sit with overwhelming grief
One day I may accept you're gone
But not today
I shall find peace within my heart
But not today
I shall find light within my soul
But not today
For today I sit alone and cry
I sit and weep as time ticks by
One day I"ll take a walk outside
But not today
I shall greet the morning with a smile
But not today
Enjoy life for a while
But not today
For today I sit with head in hands
Trying hard to understand
One day I"ll work on my life's plan
But not today

Mark! Â This is an excellent write. Â I can truly relate to this and how grief affects the heart. Â 5 stars from me!

Jacqueline!…my apology for using the incorrect name.  Again, this poem is well written and really expresses how one can be affected by losing someone close to them.

Val,
Thankyou for your kind words. Today 20th February would have been my 10th wedding anniversary had I not lost my dear husband. I was taken aback when I read your first response addressed to Mark as this was my husbands name.
Kind regards
Jacqueline
