Now That You're Gone

When you said you were leaving, I couldn't believe it.
I thought you'd stay so you had power and control.
But you left and took nothing. That was your one last "f*** you."

When you were gone, I didn't know what to do.
I went through the motions and kept my head down.
But now I don't have to, you can't keep me your little soldier anymore.

I told everyone about all I went through, all you put me though.
All the abuse I suffered alone that all suspected, but didn't didn't stop.
I screamed for the first time of all my pain that you caused.
All the behaviors I have to unlearn now and most that I will probably never stop.

Now you cannot control me.
Now you cannot hurt me, anymore.
Now, I will tell my story, my truth for all to hear.
Because now, I am free.
