Ode On A Pirouetting Sapling
Moving swiftly, but all at once still
A child of Mother Nature, frozen in time
Reveling in the sunlight upon a sloping hill.
She ignores the pain, inflicted by them.
She’s rooted to her happiness; grounded, humble.
As her twisting hands disregard the world’s pessimism.
Although, sometimes her efforts seem futile.
The darkness wants to draw her in; determined.
But she sits, rooted like a living sundial.
Reaching into the unknown, she yearns.
For years upon years, for greatness she will strive
Looking upon her, we’re curious, as if she was a Grecian urn.
She cannot go on forever; her fragile youth tells her so.
But in this cruel world, she knows it’s true
Lo and behold, they’ve come for her, and she sees them down below.
“Please, oh please!” call her silent cries.
“I’m tired of being stuck… set me free!”
In the background, machinery sighs.
