Ode To Phaedra, an Animal Ambassador

Phaedra is a friend of mine on Twitter, and I'm very much amazed by the work of hers and her friends in promoting animal rights and beyond. By Yiyan Han (c), 2020-11-06.

When I was a boy in a Chinese village in the old days
I saw an old cattle silently shed tears
As it knew to be killed by butchers (for its meat)
The slaughter was violent, and the cattle was let
To die slowly after a long knife pierced into its heart
O! How could human beings are so barbaric

We’re now more civilised in the free world
The animal rights and welfare are in so many people’s mind
O Look! Phaedra, her cute niece, Spotty, and the border collie
That she rescued from a deserted puppy mill baddie
She and her activist friends Juliana, Lyn, Marcia, and so many others
Relentlessly call for signing numerous petitions -
Stop wildlife treading and animal testing, ban fur and feathers, …
And their great devotion is winning hearts and minds

We should feel sick if someone eats cat and dog meet
We should feel shamed for squalane to kill a shark
There is no place for animal cruelty in any civilised society
We could even have a 7 day vegan challenge for our humanity
Let’s remember what this message tells us -
With love from and to animals we find joy and happiness

O Phaedra! Your animal lovers are nothing like that heartless Hippolytus
