ODE TO WHITE ROSES

ODE TO WHITE ROSES

Flowers areΒ like newly born babies
snatched brutally from their beds
abducted, condemned,
to face slow death
withered to fulfill someone's needs.

Isolated from their mother
pain piercing to the heart
wound that heals at slow pace
a voice lifted in lachrymal moan
no brother, no sister, no father.

Flowers bestrewed
the sea of corpse
a transient apology for the damage done
their absence leaves a heart
that aches, soul sorrowed.

Awed by the beauty of a white rose
pulchritudinous on hymeneal union
to leave memories, for how long?
a fresh bouquet or silk flowers
can the first withstand worries and woes?

So why not paint Flowers?
and hang them on the wall
because flowers last only for days
let them grow of their peak
indulging sun, wind, and rain for hours.

My Dear Leah,

Those of us that truly care
Would never cut their stems
We leave them in their habitat
To flourish, no mayhem

.
Instead we have some lovely plants
We talk with every day
Their response is with pure beauty
Sending fragrant flowers oft our way

All my love,
Larry xxx

"Isolated from their mother"... Their "mother" being Mother Earth I take it, Leah.

I enjoyed the analogy of flowers being picked and plucked to the beginnings of a newborn baby's life. It's true, a child needs nurturing and lots of TLC in order to reach his or her own maximum potential. Without that sort of support system their dreams will eventually wither and die, much like the pretty plucked white rose.
Beautifully done.

Morbidly beautiful, giving rise to the extended metaphor of the flowers perhaps being likened to human greed- the need for more in all of our vanity, when the simplistic touches of a timeless painting could suffice...

Outstanding, and I am at a loss as to why I haven't seen your work sooner

Absolutely fantastic!Β
