Of God, charity and hypocrisy

I saw him in his Sunday best
dropped a dollar into a can
and heard him curse the homeless
as he walked past
I asked him;
"why did you give him money"
I might have looked deranged
mornings are not my strong suit
wild hair and a permanent scowl
he continued to stare for what seemed eternity
"Christian charity," he said
as if it explained it all
walked away with his pretty wife
peacock strut-- sanctimonious fucking prick
Christian charity
Zakat
Tzedakah
Dāna
why do we need
the excuse of God
and religion
archaic texts written by men bygone
to do the simplest right
treat others with the dignity
that which you seek yourself from others
even logic walks hand-in-hand
with the notion of kindness
or maybe--
maybe with sunrise
breathes the compelling urge
to punch someone in the face.

Thank you Cherie. Trust human beings to complicate and corrupt the simplest of things ;)
Lost, You smell of young arrogance son... it is ALL governed and taken by faith, String Theory, Quantum Mechanics, Evolution, Christianity, Hell, Even Penroses' White Whole for restarting everything after finding dead zones of near absolute zero temperature in the universe regarding his theory for the 2nd law of Thermal Dynamics in cycles of time restarting everything... There is no science nor religion that can be taken by 100% proof of in-doctrine, even the big bang boy cannot be proven, nor can Christianity... You take your atheism by faith as does any Christian or Muslim their faith... Can YOU please write down your 100% proven doctrine of how life began, 100% proof how there is electromagnetism on these first planets on these planets, can you explain how it all started through now with scientific facts... You cannot because there is no 100% proof, only ones tryin to sound smart or tough... I would really love to talk about this man... There is no proof for any side, only faith and big mouths tryin to sound tough, smart of metaphysically smart... Even I am nothin but a big windbag of air... Where is your proof man... Please share man, I am always in earnest ready to learn more what it is I do not know... An what I know can fill a Library, but provide irrefutable proof... there is non boy
Tempemendivil
Firstly, if you address me again as son or boy, you will not find me likeable. And your response was cliched and presumptuous. Cliched because 9 times out of ten when someone wants to appear intelligent during the course of a theological discussion, the words String theory, Quantum mechanics, evolution pop up every time. Presumptuous because you assumed I am an atheist among other things. I am not and I don't grudge anyone their faith. Thirdly the poem wasn't about God or faith. But the written word is always subject to personal interpretation. So I'll leave it at that. You try to sound modest but "what I know can fill a library" is a non sequitur. If you have read enough to fill a library, you have something to be proud about. But I don't particularly want or need that information. Lastly I have no interest in a discussion about anything so there is no question of proving anything. But thank you nonetheless for taking the time to read.
Lost; first to me, Son is a compliment in my eye, if you do not like it, it is alright, simply say so instead of tryin to sound tough, there is nothin you can do to intimidate me Lost, as it is all pixles on a screen, even if you were here in front of me son, you are not scary, simple enough... You do not like son, so be it man, simple as that... 2ND, I asked you a question, you have no answer, you have no idea but are stallin, that at is, just say you do not know at this time, I would have had more respect instead of you tryin to sound tough... Online that is only funny boy, or man, or lost, or son, or whatever you prefer, Mr if you like... 3rd, I made a type error, I meant what I do not know can fill a library... and son, that is true... 4th, your response is stupid, you said nothin inteligent but made claims that every one that talks about string theory is tryin to sound inteligent... Well Boy, I was really tryin to talk with you, mind to mind... Since you give me nothin but ramblin, honestly, where do you yo propose we go from here, as this was a genuine attemp tto talk with you, that ball is in your court son... PS, I really wan to know what your little threat was about... You are not here next to me to even try an act tough... Think about it man, even if you try an bad mouth me and try an act tough on a site, it still does not affect me, it is still jut words on a screen... Try an use your mind... lets talk, or be striaght forward an say you only want happy replies, an not critique or honest questions, for it is hard on your little head
Ridiculous. You keep throwing the tough word around. When I say not likeable it means response. I think that should have been common sense. And that you still keep saying son...I am not going to waste my time with this. How old are you really? And to critique someone is to find fault with the quality of his work. I haven't postulated a thoery for you to analyze. And I have absolutely no need to sound intelligent. I am of simple mind. That proves your theory does it not.
Lost, I owe you an apology. Lookin this over, I came across as a condescending jerk, that was really not my intent, I was really just asking a question, and it came out awful... I became confrontational and there was no need for it, you did not deserve how it all came out, again, I apologize, take good care man:
Tempemendivil,
You don't owe me an apology of any sort. I find them overrated. You came across as presumptuous and that is something that irritates the hell out of me. And the point I was trying to make had nothing to do with the existence of God. I believe in God. And to take your thread, as one of the pioneers of string theory Michio Kaku said, there is evidence that the universe was created by an intelligent force. The philosopher Spinoza, Einstein and many great minds think the same thing. God exists. But in a simple way I was trying to say one thing; if God exists then the simplest way to be close to God is to treat his creations with equality and kindness. Why do we need God as an excuse for that? If we believe it God then every single living being is creation of that intelligent being. We have been given the ability to think, make our own judgments about right or wrong, our own sense of ethics. Why do we need ancient texts to behave with what I consider the most logical thing. A theologian and a devoutly God loving man once explained it this way; if we find a loved one ill and take him or her to a doctor and the doctor says xyz is the matter. I want to treat him/her with a method that was used a 1000 years ago. Would we accept that? No. Then why do we need ancient texts about God written by unknown men or women with unknown agendas to do what is the simplest of right. And in that vein my reaction to your presuming certain things and the tone of your questions may have caused my reaction to be blown out of proportion. And out of curiosity, how old are you really?
Hello Lost, I am 39, will be 40 in December...
Hello Lost...
I have heard of people who lives life without God...
My Dad was atheist and my Mom was Catholic...
I have seen learned and seen for myself...
I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God protecting me...
Not everyone's name is in the Book Of Life...
It's your choice not to believe...
He gives us the opportunity to learn, know Him and share the love the kind of Love only He can give...
Best wishes!
Hugs...

Hello Sparrowsong. I am not an atheist. I just have a problem with using God as a reason/excuse for doing both good and bad. Thank you for taking the time to read.
