Old Pierre

Old Pierre

Wanderin’ the streets in his worn out shoes, preaching the gospels and singin’ those blues

With his “ Bonjour”..”Au revoir” in his French accent and a don of his red felt beret on “Adieus”

Carrying a silver saxophone under his left arm and that religious muse

He was born and raised as a Preachers son, in upper country, Louisiana where the Little rivers run

And this local lad was loved and adored by everyone, so his childhood days were a lot of fun

But Pierre’s folks passed away when he was only fourteen, when he hid from the world and was seldom seen

Coz his life had tumbled down and he thought God was mean, yet he sat on the graves of his ‘Mère et père’ everyday where that grass was green

So now Pierre was a man on a mission to pray, but he travelled around to preach and play, he was never in one place his friends would say..Old Pierre was a ramblin’ man who could never ever stay…
