On the farm ~ of life and death

Like 1 Pin it 0This life is not much
Left to live
Amidst the wheat fields
Out there on the plains
With the pigs and goats
As the flies live
We the living die
I understand the cycle to be
One of life and death
-
Lord; here on the wheatbelt
I am living with the knowledge
That there is a short life
The last season was wet
Yet now the heat has returned
The feeling of inevitable death
Like a lamb who cannot stand
In the hot sun deteriorating
Unto death
-
Today we reap the crops;
Getting ready for market
We steer the cattle
Where the prices are still good
Fatten them up
They fetch a good price
For today is the day
To market we steer
Skeletons to their grave
-
The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want
The Lord brings forth,
Thy work is done
In these old bones of fortitude
These tired eyes and hands of servitude
Awakening to the light I once again see
The soul of the man rising to be free
With a vigour awakening, moving again
For the suffering of humanities bleeding pain
The Lord is my shepherd, I shalt not want
This the cry of the moon a priestly chant
Another blue sky day has come on the farm
The Lord brings forth, thy work is done
