ONCE I LOVED ALICE

buy me a drink -- so many tales to tell

Art
pastel and charcoal
running from fingertips broken in soul
 sunken swimming pool
breaks on her ankle shore
dry shattered tiles
gather in shaking group
map riddled arms
crush powder painted hearts

If you wait beyond the mountain
she will tell you
all those fainted lovers
with name enchanted or without
small coffin shape
white sky pills
slide into another rabbit hole

Shirtless raining Sunday mornings
framed rivers bleeding down
clear cracked panes
sheeted lovers drowning from the strangles
of another vineyard
days those pages
never summoned by nights
urgent regrets

Miniature flogged screams
trapped caught in the web
turned on lathe
washed by wind-blasted
hoisted period adopted into my death
that private-public scene

frosted diamond cuts
uninvited yet
ARRIVED
