Poem -

once + maybe

Once
When she was beautiful
Maybe mother, wife?
And dutiful

Once maybe
In lives long past
For beautiful
It never lasts

But once... maybe...
She was lovely
Blindly young and
Lushly free

Maybe,
Long before
She knew of fate
How life can morph
That bad can wait
To turn green trees
To death and dirt
Before she knew
How breath could hurt

Maybe back then
She was
True beauty

Before she knew
Her fate
Was me

The bitter truth of life is felt in this write

Maybe,
Long before
She knew of fate
How life can morph
That bad can wait
To turn green trees
To death and dirt
Before she knew
How breath could hurt

that section there is powerful to me. Especially that last line “before she knew how breath could hurt” oh how it can hurt and you deliver that well in this peace
