Poem -

Once Upon a Woman

I grew up with fairy tales and playing princess,

That was long before I dreamed of a prince.

Life was so easy, no worry, no stress,

That is not how it’s been since.

My teen years were full of make-up and boys,

I constantly tried to impress,

I lived through the tantrums, the tears and the joys,

My choices were never the best.

I married my prince and had heirs to the throne,

We bought a castle, a cat and a dog,

I swear I was cursed by some wicked witch,

As my prince soon turned into a frog.

The story books never tell you it all,

It’s not always happily ever after,

A woman can cope, if she stands tall,

She is strong through her love and her laughter.

To budding princesses everywhere,

Find yourself, and realise you’re worth,

Then you can find the prince who will care,

And together you can rule the earth.
