Poem -

Once we were strangers

Once we were strangers

Once we were Strangers.
In those darkened days of alone.
You and I may have
passed by on the street.
Not knowing
what lay ahead for us.

As children did we
go to the same movies
See each other
in the playground.

I awaken now
and find you sleeping.
Your arm around me
hand safely cupping
my breast.
Asleep and in contentment.
almost as content as me.

I cannot believe
that once
a long time ago
in a distant forgotten world
we were strangers.
