One Century Ago

Happy Birthday my dear Mother, you’d have been 100 years old today;
But so sadly, seventeen years ago, you had to float away!
Yet, you danced right up until the end, and taught your workout class;
Loved by all your senior students, still a gorgeous lovely lass!
.
As a teen you went to NYC, with your tap shoes in your hands;
It took not long for you to be discovered, and some dancing parts to land!
They used your tapping on the radio, on Fanny Brice’s famous show;
After that, you formed your own act, and on the road you’d go!
.
You did summers in the “Borscht Belt”, performed at Philadelphia’s Club Bali;
That’s where you met my Father, smitten the moment you he’d see!
You married June 11, 1942, making The Inquirers social headlines;
This photo was in there featured, showing a couple so very fine!
.
After thirty-five years of loving, poor Father passed so young;
Just sixty-one years old when, his Kaddish had be sung!
But you never did remarry, you had found eternal love;
Now you and Dad will celebrate, your hundredth up above!
.
.
Happy Hundredth Mom
You’re tapping on the stars now
As the Angels sway

Simply beautiful and well written. I enjoyed reading the story about your parents, her dancing days, how they met and other details you shared made the narrative easy to read. What a heartfelt tribute.Â
My Dear Katina,
I am so happy that you enjoyed reading about my most charismatic Mother. I was raised with music, dancing, and parties, my Mother never losing the show business in her blood.
