One Polarized Popinjay

One Polarized Popinjay

One Polarized Popinjay

Once upon a time
There was nothing
But then -
There existed the Heavens and the Earth

Like once upon a time
I felt nothing
But then -
There existed passion and want

Pulsating with a maddened sort of light
You outshone them all
You made me blind to them all
I should have known your light would be intermittent
For nothing truly good ever lasts

A Star's life span
Would interest you more than it would interest me
You were my White Dwarf
Whilst I was too weak to even begin my journey

Except.
Now you are cold and bitter
Like the harsh winds that bind me to a routine I cannot escape
And cannot fathom to escape
I am now the Supernova
Whilst you are too weak to even begin your journey again

Be no Oscar Wilde
For his beauty and the lapis lazuli
Of his eyes
Can never excuse his backwards demeanour

Once upon a time
Folk realised that Beauty and Youth
Paled in comparison to that of -
An altruistic soul

Do you not realise even stars lose their right to coruscate eventually?
