ONE YEAR AT A TIME
I never meant to catch up to you!
Though I said it when I was young
But little kids say a lot of things
When they don't know what they mean
Two years was all the difference
Between a younger and older brother
To make me think you hung the moon
And forever be in your shadow
Now I'm seventy one and your still 58
How can that be, what I have seen without you
The times I turn to say,
The times, the times I long to share
As time passes, so do I
Friends and family,
In a race that cost so much to win
The only winning is the memories
and the finish is my end
Oh if we only could have run this together.
Crossing the line arm and arm
I carry you with me of that no doubt
but I still long to touch your face
You are where you are to be
and I remain in my place,
You have won, and I still run
Wait, wait for I am coming
One year at a time

I don't know where it went?!..... anyway, just a quick note to say....,Time passing is beautifully delivered..,,, and well considered as to use the big gap between the 2 year to 13 year leap...... time is GREAT subject matter (as is aging)... fantastic food for thought brother poet!!......LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?☀✴✳?
Always reminds me, careful what you wish for.
Nowdays I consider any day we don’t take the dirt nap is a good one!
