Ophelia Misunderstood
To be so misunderstood
With an infatuation for Love
The powerful men of her world
Hadn't a clue,
Having Hamlet himself
Wondering
"To be or not to be" forever believing
"Love is brief"
When her father's life
Was snuffed like a glove
She wore her melancholy
As more misunderstood Love
Erotomania
Tearing and tormenting
This bi-polar basket case
Ever relenting,
Singing and taunting,
In riddles and rhymes
When the Queen announced,
Ophelia
Had ended her life,
Dangling amid whispers
Of a willow tree's branch
For she was,
"Incapable of her own distress"
She fell from the willow
And drowned in the brook
After all, she had to don
Her necklace of rue
Her regrets
So amazingly,
Misunderstood
Absolutely,
Nothing left,
For her
To do...
At her funeral,
The Queen sprinkled flowers
Upon her grave,
"Sweets to the sweet!"
Was all,
She could say...

The question which always hangs over this is: Did she fall...or did she let herself fall??
There's, possibly, nothing more laudable than grappling with our great masterpieces; and this is one of the greatest. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you, my friend.
Speaking as a friend who has traversed this magnificent, but treacherous, terrain once or twice: I'd point you to "...the fall of a sparrow".
Happy Hiking, Tony!!

Wow!! Thanx SIR JASON!!....a fine comment is always appreciated......I ended the poem the way I did because I don't think I've done it justice yet...... but I will...... just have SO MANY projects going on...... one of which is getting into the VATICAN LIBRARY with access to some of its rarity.......I need answers ~to some of those BIG questions we all face in this lifetime...... sorry for rambling here.....I just wanted you to know I ALWAYS love learning something new.....and your subtle compass.... pointing me in the direction of ~"The fall of a Sparrow" is VERY intriguing.....I could come up with my own hypotheses...... especially since we are now learning that Shakespeare didn't really write all those plays alone....... so if you could teach me something new....... I'd be more than grateful...... your cyber-friend and admirer .......tony xo ?☀✴✳ and thanx again for just being you brother poet!!....... peace.......?
