~ OPHELIA MISUNDERSTOOD ~

To be so misunderstood, with an infatuation for Love
The powerful men of her world, hadn't a clue
Having Hamlet himself ~ wondering,
"To be or not to be", and forever believing
That, "Love is brief"....
When her father's life, was snuffed like a glove
She wore her melancholy as more misunderstood Love
Erotomania, tearing and tormenting
This bi-polar basket case, ever relenting
Singing and taunting in riddles and rhymes,
When the Queen announced suddenly
That she'd taken her own life,
From the whisperings to a willow tree's branch
For she was certainly, "incapable of her own distress"
She fell from the willow and drown in the brook
After all, she had to wear her necklace of Rue
Her regret, so amazingly misunderstood
Absolutely, nothing left, for her to do....
At the funeral, the Queen sprinkles flowers
Upon her grave,
"Sweets to the sweet",
Was all,
She could say...

Now, Tony, you are speaking my language. William Shakespeare is my greatest inspiration. When I was in high school, no one enjoyed his writings as much as I. He was way ahead of his time.Β
Yeah!!β¦.I LOVED my high school English teacher.....he was such a HUGE influence on my life and Love of the English Language.....Shakespeare was certainly a part of that.....He's THE most popular poet in the history of the world!!β¦..The sonnets are divine...like the paintings & inventions from Leonardo DaVinci the work is sublime and untouchable!!β¦..I am of the belief however, that he didn't actually write those poems!!.....But that's another story!!.....Thank you for sharing this girlfriend!!β¦β¦.LOVE & ROCKETS!!β¦...T xoΒ : )
Awww beautifully romantic β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Thank you JILL!!β¦..I suppose death, suicide, and obsession can be romantic...depending on your point of view...β¦.I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment dear poet sister!!β¦...Big smiles!!β¦..T xoΒ : )

Again you suprise me with this write, the way you have laid it out and the timing is brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you Sir SIMON!!β¦..Yeah, this was/is a difficult one for me, timing wise, it still needs more work but I am so grateful to you for recognizing that aspect of it....because it's difficult to get the details of something so important and recognizable, like HAMLET, exactly right.....yours is a keen eye!!β¦..thanx again my friend......stay groovy!!β¦...T xoΒ : )
Fabulous writing as always, Tony. Tou have made me want to go and read Hamlet now. No one has ever "made" me want to go and read Shakespeare before...ever...you have though, with this gorgeously, rich and sumptuous jewel of a poem. Fantastic work. I honestly do want to go and read Hamlet now x
LOL!!...you're funny!!β¦..I'm so happy to hear that you now feel like you need to read "Hamlet".....It's interesting because in English Lit. classes it was NOT Shakespeare that got me excited in any way.....in fact he was kinda down on my list.....however, (and this will sound corny) I absolutely loved and still Love EVERYTHING about "Romeo & Juliet":.....the original film with Olivia Hussey, directed by Franco Zeferelli, is still one of my favorite films to this day......anyway, there I go again rambling!!β¦..anyway, Thank you Tina!!...for your ever-encouraging comments and impressions!!β¦...stay groovy girlfriend...β¦..Β .Love & Rockets!!β¦...T xoΒ : )
XxxΒ poor beautiful Ophelia..in her 'madness' love, captured her moments perfectly, the best Hamlet production I saw was Patrick Stewart and David Tennants versian played modern/ gothic with the Queen swigging gin and smoking cigarettes.. love love it...Maxwell done Tony..xx makes me want to write.
Wow!! PAULINE!!β¦.once again you compel and surprise me (most pleasantly) with your impressions of one of my writes....Thank you!!β¦.Patrick Stewart?!β¦.the Patrick who played Captain Picard on Star Trek?....I know he's well known as an actor's actor but I've never had the pleasure...I do love the presence that he has on screen.....and I Love the idea of the queen being a bit more flamboyant...β¦.must have been quite the performance......I KNOW I would have enjoyed that!!β¦..I studied acting when I was young....I was in two television movies when I was very young.....I performed magic shows and worked in a magic shop and had the honor of working at the JOHN F, KENNEDY Center For The Performing Arts all the way through High School.....so I got to see many wonderful performances and performers!!β¦.Sorry for rambling my friend....again, thank you kindly!!β¦..T xo : )
My Dear Tony,
The jealous Queen cried suicide
When they found Ophelia in the brook
But many felt it was an accident
Her own life she never took
Love you Bro,
Larry xxx
