Our Alamo, Your Shrine

Our Alamo, Your Shrine

We light a little candle, and say a prayer or two;

We place a flower on your shrine; that holds the ashes that were you!

We look upon your sacred things; you used them every day;

Your collar, your beddie and your two small bowls, so empty since you’ve gone away!

We stare at all your photos there; they tell the story of your life;

From puppy dog to full grown man, you enchanted me and my dear wife!

For she’s the one that found you, and brought you to my side;

And the moment that I saw you, my feelings I could not hide!

I fell in love that instant, as you ran up for our first kiss;

And through all our years together, not one day you’d ever miss!

Your full time job was loving us, and you became a CEO;

For everywhere Mommy and Daddy went, their Nico was sure to go!

But sadly one night you lost your battle; the forces were too strong;

You fought bravely till the final moment; then your foes snuffed out your songs!

So we call your shrine “The Alamo”, for like Crockett, you’re our hero too;

Our soulmate, our dear Nico, every day we honor you!
