our mother
save earth

it is too late to feel guiltyÂ
when earth takes her last breath so will we
barely survivingÂ
she is already dyingÂ
so many warning signs of what will be predictedÂ
by the damage of our actions we committedÂ
is it too late to start changing?
can we fix the last parts of this world remaining?
maybe not
the destruction is irreversibleÂ
her illness is terminal
we held earth hostage in her own bodyÂ
she begged for help
how did we not hear her scream?
we were too focused on pursuing our own dreams
making life easier by inventing unnecessary machinesÂ
our huge populationÂ
killed her grounds creationÂ

Hello Kiesha,Â
this is a great poem of awareness towards our most treasured possession. Earth. I just loved this particular lineÂ
“we held earth hostage in her own body”
Such stella wording here, that packs a punch, reminding us we have all contributed to the suffering. Even if it has been to allow it to continueÂ
Great piece, thanks for sharingÂ
Gwen :)
sadly, with only a few exceptions, we are a selfish species ... your poem was simply crying out to be posted ..Â
