Furtively crawling undisturbing a golden comet chicken devouring tasty grubs

Clambering up a scots wood pine as nimble as a monkey

Gathering his nobbly nuts courageous and secretively spunky

Storing his piles of foraged fodder, fruit, nuts and seeds

The rare red squirrel seeks 
sanctuary in an oak stump hollow and feeds

In our countryside heathlands and moorlands amidst the dusk or at dawn

If you are fortunate you may chance on a red roe deer fawn

So small and elegant with a summer coat of reddish brown

Friskily playing with a small group of siblings jumping up and down

Oh how scenically beautiful 
Is our wilderness of woodlands

Such bountifuls of ever-changing colourful visions that only nature understands

Freedom for forest creatures to roam and dwell within
