Over And Out Captain Kirk

Over And Out Captain Kirk

Oh Captain, My Captain, throughout my years on Earth;
You have brightened and enriched my life, filling it with mirth!
My favorites of your performances, were as Spartacus and the Vikings King;
Their power overwhelming, I thought, “an Oscar should they bring”!
.
Throughout my years you’ve been an influence, a magnitude of masculinity;
As a lad, I often uttered, “Like Kirk Douglas I want to be”!
Of course, your eldest son Michael, continues with your legacy;
A Thespian loved by so many, his movies a “must see”!
.
But yesterday, your assignment was over, now you trek to galaxies far;
To start your role as an Angel, your stage, the distant stars!
But your legend will live forever, you left your mark on Humanity;
Our Hero, Mr. Kirk Douglas, your fame burns eternally!
.
.
.
Our Hero has left
But he lives on forever
In our loving hearts

Dear Michael,
I was so sorry to hear about your Father's passing.
Throughout my life, he has been one of my heros.
He may be gone, but his legend will live forever.

I think I have heard about Captain Kirk. What an awesome tribute to a movie hero, stellar eulogy you penned for him. I was ESP admiring the last stanza so fab! Kudos for a great elegy.

My Dear S. z.k.,

When I called him "Captain Kirk", I was alluding to William Shatner on Star Trek, and how Kirk Douglas had been "my Captain" for most of my life.  It is so hard to wake up one morning, and find out that one of your lifelong heroes is no longer with us.
Thank you for your heartfelt comment.

Peace and Love,

One hundred and three!!! Larry I agree...he was one of the last in an era of 'proper' movie stars, in epic films that will never come our way again...sadly. When only the few made it because of true talent, charisma and personality whereas today, anybody can be a movie star and everybody thinks they are!!! He was also physically a very handsome man...timeless...lovely write ?

My Dear Marion,

You have gotten to the pith of my intended meaning.

"He was one of the last in an era of 'proper' movie stars, in epic films that will never come our way again...sadly. When only the few made it because of true talent, charisma and personality whereas today, anybody can be a movie star and everybody thinks they are!!!"

An amazingly brilliant and right-on comment!

My Dear Greg,

I guess I should have also mentioned his great portrayal of Van Gogh, in "Lust For Life".  You are so right about him being a wonderful person.  It is so hard to accept that he is no longer with us.
Thank you, Greg, for this beautiful comment straight from your heart.

All my love,

My Dear Leah,

Thank you for those lovely words.  He was an amazing man, as powerful in life, as he was on the screen, living 103 years.

All my love,
