Over the Rooftops

Over the Rooftops

Over the rooftops of the urban spread

Out in the yonder, or just in my head

I see a world of beauty bloom

No smog in skies, nor doom or gloom

No one to destroy a single leaf

A place to be happy, not hide or creep

Trees so proud, not full of decay

Where nature thrives, not dying away

Harmony exists as it ought

Not struggling daily with new battles fought

Over the rooftops of the urban spread

I long to rest my weary head

I long to feel the wind in my face

Maybe find my peaceful space

Flowers in a magnitude of colours bright

Wouldn’t that be a wonderful sight?

I would stand on the hilltop oh so proud

And hear the voice that makes no sound

See the world in beauty adorned

Then I could lose my crown of thorns.

It's okay to dream...to hope...to believe. This verse encompasses all.

I think many will see a piece of themselves in this, as life is painful and few escape unmarked. Thank you for your kind words.
