Glimmer of Light
Why bother telling anyone, no one cares at all.
If anyone asks about the bruise, I just say I had a fall.
I told the police one day about him hitting out all the time,
They wrote it down and told him off, said: “Sir it’s a crime”.
He hit harder saying “go on call for help”
Laughing “where’s the police now? Stop your yelps”
How do I escape this hell if no one wants to know?
I didn’t know where to turn to, so I just let the violence flow.
Oh words of venom he spat with tirades of verbal insults,
Then came a slap, punch kick, as he said it was ALL my fault.
Now I am at the point that I am of no use to anyone,
Life is pain filled, frightening, scared of everyone.
Back then I asked for a tiny glimmer of light,
Help me off this path of an eternal damming night.
I hated my life that way, please try and understand.
It is so hard for a victim to reach out and take a stand.
The reason for sharing my story over and over again,
Is to give awareness and recognition to end Domestic
Violence. Amen

Amen - it is so; so be it (used after a prayer, creed, or other formal statements to express solemn ratification or agreement).

Hi Kim,  you have written with such poignancy that its heartbreaking to read.....You have created  a vivid imagery which feels very personal....I hope it isn't but thoughts are with you and all who suffer, many in silence, with this sadness.... Well written and I look forward to reading more of your work. Welcome  to Cosmofunnel xx

Many thanks for the welcome and as with all writing I think we have to experience pain to express wholeheartedly. The reason for me writing is I hope that my words reach out and give even just one person "a glimmer of light" that there is a way out just don't suffer in silence. x
