Overcoming is like GUMBO

We are driven
by our own egocentric 
dreams and/or intent

There is depression
that hoards as 
a devil around my neck

loose nimblets 
called  failures 
are left staring 
at a poor roux
at the bottom 
of the pan

leaving the ladle
stiff to 
the stir

It is 
the mindset
that overcomes
the obstacle

that smooths
over the 
lumps
and creates
a perfect
gumbo
in the end
