Overwhelming Emotion
The egocentric sometimes seem very smart,
Though ever learning; can't give knowledge; part.
With overwhelming emotion! pleads their case,
Logical conclusions break; with flowered vase.
A most critical point; is the freedom to choose!
Overridden whenever; another life; would loose.
Baal is always pleased; when selfishness rules,
Instant gratification; the ship of fools!
If you're willing to pay for a destruction; choice.
Then; allowing the decision of a life affirmed; voice,
To withdraw from the taxes; forced in compliance.
Then all would be sheltered from shadow defiance!
Freedom of choice; a most precious right and view!
Does it interfere with my right? or a precious life; a new?

thank you for your wonderful support Greg my brother!
Wow Jim this is brilliantly penned poetry. I love the abstract imagery forming as I read your well crafted lines. It is like abstract art that when you look deeply into its crevices you will find such enlightenment.Β

I mean this here alone is just sensational. It says so much in just those two lines. For we can become lost, consumed within our own egos. Without even realising the corruption and mass ripple effect that it causes. This entire poem leaves the reader re-evaluating the self. For do we truly consider the effects we have on others, especially those with fresh innocent minds.Β
I would even go as far as to say this makes the reader question what is freedom? are our thoughts truly from a free place?
Definitely one of those poems to read again and again
thanks Jim you shared another string to your bow, with the format of this piece
great writingΒ

The middle way the best way. Great write.
thank you JP!
Jim another well worked piece that once again shines and brightly.
And how right you are about choices, those two diverging roads in life with only one to choose.
And your 'ship of fools' line is inspired descriptive writingΒ and fits so well in your poem, which says it all for those who choose to listen.
Full honours to Jim and back tomorrow to catch up on yours and others also.
Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost was written in 1922 and yours Jim brings a choices poem a new lease of life and a new lease of life for the modern age and today's society.
Excellent poem and I hope all hear you.
Nos da my friend.
Hi Shaun! if you just compared me to Robert Frost I am stunned! I'll have to read the one you referred to, thank you bunches for stopping by!
It's a fine poem Jim and like yours one of choices and paths to decide upon.
Salutations to you my friend for a fine write
Hi, Jim, love this. It is why I saved a Guan Yin statue at a carboot sale this afternoon (She is the Buddhist Mother Mary in China). I went and lit a candle st a fourteenth century Mother Mary statuette later on, to help me remember myself so I can continue giving withoutΒ
