Painted black

What do you see betwixt that bleakness of the night?
When there are no moon beams shining without any starlight
‘Painted black’ is but a marvellous mystery
Where I will open my eyes and imagine images easily
~
There in the darkest place I can see colours of foresight
Mythical monsters and creatures can delight
Millions and trillions of minute pixels but they are there alright
A dazzling array of anythings so vivid and bright
-
When I was just a tiny tot these coloured dots would appear
And in the wee small hours I would hide away in fear
But underneath my blankets well I could still see them so clear
Floating down from just above my head yet very close and near...
