Past and Beyond Evil..

Is a crime less wrong with the passage of time?
Can evil be diluted through the years?
Does the passage of time excuse wrongs done?
Excuses of ‘another world’ ‘another time’
Are just that
Excuses…..
So many wrongs we have to right
So many hurts we have to heal.
People shamed and degraded
Who takes culpability?
Who?
We do! That’s who.
Each and everyone of us
How can we put things right though?
Do we ask for forgiveness and show contrition?
Do we make promises of ‘Never again’?
Offer recompense and restitution?
I don’t know....
But what I do know is that I feel the weight of past wrongdoings,
and shame at man’s inhumanity to man
A bleeding heart offers no solace
But that’s all I have….

To closely examined past wrongs can be unbearable today. Weight far to heavy.

A thoughtful piece Lodigiana! Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much StevieC
Hello Lodigiana...
Sometimes, it's our own mistakes to trust someone who knew all along they weren't really wanting a friendship, it was for their own agenda...
There comes a time they don't want to pretend anymore...
Forgiveness is easy, trust is more difficult and when you trust enough in the first place...
You do realize it was your very own mistake...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...

Hi Sparrowsong xx........I often think about the evil in the world ..present and past..Slavery then and modern slavery now. Wars and subjugation of fellow human beings.. Knowing history we bear a lot of responsibility to never sink to the lows of the past..I wish I had confidence though that humanity had changed enough to ensure that... but sadly I don't. We can always make a start ourselves though by valuing everyone for the wonderful creation that they are! Thank you so much for your thoughtful words which are much appreciated xx
