Past and present problems
Food/famine
Different tastes different likes
Some like cake, some like fries
We all eat at different times
Like at a weeding, or when someone dies
But some don’t get a choice
Cause they’re not allowed to have a voice
They get no food, they’re always hungry
They ask for help, but you don’t, just because they’re from another country
Mistreatment and unfairness are in the plenty
Traits you’d expect from the dark ages are being shown presently
They asked for your help so many times, but you’ve just put them in the dark
Are you happy now you’ve left your mark?
There is no food in sight, but you hear a distant bark
You find a starving dog and a frightened boy
You stop and yell out “he’s no toy”!
The dog turns and you feel dread
You see behind him, someone dead
You start to run, dead ahead
But you stop strait away as you see where the boy has bled               Â
So you impale the dog on a stick, and he dies
The boy begins to cry
You ask him why
He tells you his tale, of him and his dog
You feel as if you’d just killed god
You drop to your knees
And beg to him, “Oh please
End my misery”
You start to feel dizzy
The boy looks at you, with hungry eyes
And so you die
This is what happens when people starve, they go mad
And yet we throw so much away, its more than bad
This should really make you sad

amazing work, Rosella parker (welcome, hope you feel the good vibes) at first I thought you had replicated the same poem by mistake, but nada, this one takes a different spin on the same theme, both are well done, war is horrifying in so many ways, sadly it seems to be in  the nature of man, it is quite sad, your poem paints a picture....as Marlon Brando said in Apocalypse Now...'the horror, the horror'....a relevant poem, makes one think, cheers poet  Â
Thankyou very much
