Poem -

Pat the Puppet On the Head

Now listen to my lucky tongue
Hey we know you’re only young
But pick up that big ol’ gun
We’re gonna have some fun
We know this war can’t be won
But there’s some killing to be done
Oh to be a soldier my son

Yes you have been selected
To have your mind infected
We’ll program you over night
Teach you to kill on sight
We’ll make a man out of you
Well make a man out of you
That’s what we’re gonna do

Now listen to my lucky tongue
Hey we know you’re only young
But pick up that big ol’ gun
We’re gonna have some fun
We know this war can’t be won
But there’s some killing to be done
Oh to be a soldier my son

Yes, you have been selected
To have your mind neglected
We’ll program you eventually
Teach you to kill the enemy
We’ll make a man out of you
We’ll make a man out of you
That’s what we’re gonna do

Now listen to my lucky tongue
Hey we know you’re only young
But pick up that big ol’ gun
We’re gonna have some fun
We know this war can’t be won
But there’s some killing to be done
Oh to be a soldier my son

Excellent write. I think war and fighting is so pointless and you have highlighted the effects of it nicely ?

I have another one called Nothing New (Just Another War) which I’ll post up soon, Pratibha. I couldn’t agree more, the amount of people who have died from war is just astronomical and disgusting. The last major wars were basically for oil on the pretence of war on terror and now even if you’re not attacked they just go to war. I think we’ve all become used to it x
