The Payphone That Keeps Me Up at Night

Forget what you know about love, and the bills you pay to keep that service running so well in the emphatic daytime and in the lethargic night
How uptight you are about every little detail because minuscule is your middle name and precise is your only forte that keeps you holding onto the edge of earth while gravity is pulling you to its core
And you’re so concise that in once sentence spoken from your being, everyone knows who you are, your email address, your favorite color, animal, book, and what you loved as a child
Your eyes use to be blue
But now they’re black
Street lights and my open bedroom window shed enough light to tell me where you’re going, but that you’re never coming back
It’s dangerous out there; this is why I keep my lights off, and my bedroom window open, to cut back on bills. And it looks like you've lost all the ones you wanted to pay for
Your sex, love, and drug bills are too high for me to count or want to count. The evening never gets darker, because the sky is always light but solemn lost hearts like yours make my eves less than comforting
My body rests as my eyes steer clear of noticing what you’re doing out there.
The rain is a burial ground for a sunken ship like you.
So let me take you in
Let me rebuild you into the admiration you've dreamt of, and never once was
Let me cast a sail that represents us.
Let me tell people where we’re going
Let me tell them we’re coming back
But maybe, just maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. Through a window, and a few meters away. Maybe I’m too far from your personality, far from your beauty, and whatever you put your integrity into
And I could put my integrity into you
So if you’re looking for bills to pay then get rid your cellphone that needs a phone card. Since the only pay as you go plan, will be to put your lips to mine, read between the lines, see through my eyes to a deeper meaning and take it easy once a month. If you’re willing to pay.
My rates won’t change mainly because I’m lazy but also because I’ll be into what you’re into, and dig what you dug 3 days ago then catch up to speed with what’s up with you today.
It looks like loneliness bites my heart harder than my exes
But if there was an x on a map I found a beach far from here it would lead me to where you stand giving me a clearer picture than what I see and hear from behind the glass, there, in my bedroom, from the open space
But maybe it’s just this insomnia
That forces me to listen to that payphone
That keeps me up at night
