MY FRIEND

MY FRIEND

MY FRIEND

My friend, I wish that I could shield

You from life’s hurt and harm

I would cover you with a blanket

Hiding you from all deceptive charm

My friend, we may get lied to and be deceived

By the best,  we must believe

We’ve walked the same road many times

To only face these many crimes

My friend, if I could guide you safely through

Or, smooth each step ahead of you

I would gladly stand to take your place

So, you would have no pain to erase

My friend, I’m here if you should call

I would give my heart, my life, my all

For you are God’s precious gift to me

And, I will pray that life is good to thee…
