Perchance To Dream

Perchance To Dream

My dreams are my reality,
a jigsaw to complete,
but sometimes pieces just don’t fit
the picture’s not too neat,
but no one promised me perfection

I’m cynical and know the score
my dreams are not my master.
I take those parts that hurt me less
and circumvent disaster
yet seeking still  my own nirvana.

To hope is valiant but unwise
and all about there’s trickery.
There are still rivers to be spanned
and many a  pyrrhic victory
but where to start ,I’ve yet to know

ah life’s a trial they’d have us say
we live until we die.
There must be more, much more than this.
but I’m too weak to try
and look for truth within my  fragile dreams

Ah! My dear LODIGIANA!!
I absolutely Love the honesty that this piece exudes.....the true introspective nature of a writer that seeks truth above all.....even though it must be left to the wisdom of her dreams.....the honesty comes in.....in her admitting her shortcomings.....and truly seeing herself for who she REALLY is.....that is one of the biggest hurdles in ALL of life.....To Know Thyself!!.....AND.....to deliver  all of this within the confines of a most challenging 'Rhyme Scheme' ......Is a victory in and of itself!!.......ALL STARS & PINNED!!.....Bravo (again) dear poet sister!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo  : )

Hello Tony  if dreams could be translated to life I wonder where that would take us? perhaps not the wonderful place we imagine but rather a wishy washy existence where all things are possible and yet impossible! Honesty can be hard work sometimes but without it we have no foundations to build on do we? So pleased you  noted the Rhyme scheme..something slightly different from the norm but  just adds another element to play around with..Thank you so much for your lovely words ..but then you are a superb Wordsmith so this should never be a surprise! but it is so appreciated. Stay always well and safe my poet brother !.....Love  Lodi xxxx

Lodigiana, another beautiful poem to immerse oneself in and to dive so deeply as well, for you never hold back so honest when conveying emotions and feelings the way a good and respected writer/poet should whatever life's challenges, however large or small.
I love your poem's title and The Great Bard would, if he read it today, would most certainly tip you the wink and a wry smile too.
Thank you Lodigiana for writing and sharing and a real joy to read from beginning to end,  for as always more than a touch of poetry class.
Stay safe my poetry friend and I wish you well.
Shaun.x.

Hi Shaun
thank you so much for  your delightfully encouraging words and your comment about The Bard' did make me smile...I hope he would find it appropriate! Revitalisation is taking place slowly but surely, and I am wearing my 'Poet' hat more often and more comfortably than I have for a long time which is wonderful to be honest..now all I need is the time to do more reading!. Thank you once again  Shaun and I hope you are ,as always, fit and well.  Lodigiana x

The fish of the sea

It's good to make dreams into reality but also great not to have unrealistic goals! I especially liked these lines

ah life’s a trial they’d have us say
we live until we die.

Wow, That's exactly how I perceive life throwing hard balls at me! It's a test indeed... Love it.

Enjoy reading your work~

Kind regards,

Max

Hi Max, I am really pleased that you enjoyed it..in fact I get childishly  silly happy whenever  anyone enjoys my pieces! as you say life sometimes does toss those hard balls at you but  as long as we can wield a trusty bat at them  we should be ok..plus I have a very strong bowling arm!
Thank you for your kind words my friend and as always stay safe ♄
