Perfection
Screw the cape, he didnβt need it.
Roaring modesty earthed us all with rationality and perspective.
The stars were out of reachβ¦ But we werenβt.
His purpose was his priority, certainly not his selfless self.
Perfection.
Teenagers will be teenagers. They lie, fight, shout and hate.Β
Words can be acidic and unjust, especially after such sacrificeβ¦Β
Blind encouragement for fleeting ambition, without exception.
Perfection.Β
But adults will be adults, with appreciation coming a little too late.Β
A weekly visit knocks spots off a winning lottery ticket.Β
Not a disappointment. Not a single complaint. Nothing other than perfection.
Butβ¦
Gazing into my own childβs eyes triggered the epiphany.Β
The sacrifice and starsβ irrelevance hit me between the eyes with true contentment.Β
I finally understand.
If only you were around to hear me say those words.Β
I understand.Β
You gave your life, and I'm forever grateful you laid the foundation for perfection.
