Perjury Of The Jury

It is a spiraling web of lies
We weave,
And the love ones closest caught
We deceive.
I swore an oath
To protect us both
But the bitter truth
Held firm to justices hand,
An obvious suspect
Placed sullen face upon the stand.
Frozen palid manner, statuesque in defendant's chair,
Dangerously churning below surface
You duck on the pond,
Hear councils scheme but do not care.
Overpayed manipulating smooth talkers
Sway the lucky volunteers
Who emanate a guilty look,
Playing judge to the cover of
A story, without ever allowing it
To become an open book.
Silence fills a large looming courtroom
Only shrinking on the accused,
Unheard is the cry of an innocent plea
Drowned out by defense attorneys confused,
Gavels too swift to decipher the guilty.

Really enjoyed the imagery, especially the contrast between the "large looming courtroom" that "shrinks on the accused." Very good.
Thanks Brian, I appreciate the acknowledgement.
Brilliant!! 5*s
